NPS Update (for those who care)

Straight from [info]randomcelestial:

(As clear as I can remember)

--Rives did not nail Freestyle. Rives is out.

--[info]dansully is also out.

--[info]androidlustre went up in the second round, did well, but did not score highly enough to make indies.

--NYC-Louder Arts is undefeated going into semis.

--NYC-Urbana took another 2, and is thus on the cusp.

--[info]randomcelestial got the 1 and Buddy Wakefield the 2 in their bouts tonight, but both too little too late.

--[info]mojgani made indies.

--Both Chicago teams are done.

That's all he could get across before he had to go.

Word, if you have it, would especially be appreciated in re:

**[info]ragan

**the Eugene team

**[info]hot_rod_poet

**both Boston teams and Providence (having already heard about Worcester)

**the Seattle team in general and Christa Bell in particular

**T'ai Freedom Ford

**George Miller

**Who is fucking whom

**How many times Danny Solis has been sighted sans culottes.

Any other results, also welcome.

[Edited to add: all the results are now up on the NPS website, here.
Unless they've changed how they do the seeding, the four semifinal bouts are:

Fort Worth
Palo Alto
Berkeley
Mesa
NYC-Urbana

NYC-Louder Arts
Hawaii
Albuquerque
Oakland
Delray Beach

San Francisco
Charlotte
Detroit
DC/Baltimore
Minneapolis

Boston-Lizard Lounge

and the 10 poets who made indie semis are:

Janean Livingston
Monica Daye*
[info]hot_rod_poet*
Xero Skidmore
[info]ragan*
Christa Bell*
Corbet Dean
[info]mojgani
Jaylee Alde
Jamie Kennedy*

*first time making it to indies]

Providence took at least a 3 tonight--San Francisco won, with Hollywood second. I believe Omaha got 3 and Providence got the 4, but those could be mixed up. Eavesdropping on the street is not an exact science.

Hmm... thanks-- how'd you guys do tonight?

[info]exodusrex

August 12 2005, 05:45:35 UTC 6 years ago

coulda been better

We took a 1 last night and 3 tonight. Fort Worth got the 1, with Hawaii getting a 2--only .3 ahead of us. We're right on the cusp too.

How did Worcester do?

Gack, I'm sorry to hear that.... it's always tough when a bunch of veterans retire at once....

(Also, that means [info]ragan made it too, which, awesome.)

hot_rod_poet

Cantab went 2 and 3 (very off-chance of making semis). Lizard went 1 and 2 (down to Palo Alto tonight in the Match of Doom #1).

There's no way Darby will tell you this on his own, so I'll spread the word: a 1 last night and a 1 tonight. Mothafucka.

I have comprehensive score sheets for three matches. You can email if you want 'em.

Hot damn! I always knew he had it in him.

I think I can do without the complete scores, but can you tell me what pieces he did?

Re: hot_rod_poet

He absolutely nailed Von Dutch on night 1 (best I'd ever seen). Night 2 he did Alloy.

Eugene

Eugene took 3rd tonight, and are now ranked at 24th according to tehir blog. A fine showing for my hometown, if I do say so myself. Even if semis are out, I'm still proud as fuck.

eugene & seattle did not make semis. Christa Bell, however is in the top 10 indies.

You already found out about Eric & Ragan, so I don't have to repeat that.

I have no idea who is fucking whom. And I don't think Danny has been naked yet, which is suprising considering the insane amount of naked poets in the pool.

(also, not sure if you were interested in this - Mesa is in Semis, and Corbett made indies).

Oh. Should read everything before posting.

Lizard Lounge is in, Cantab & Providence are out (99% sure on that anyway).

Aye, I should update this entry to indicate that all the results are posted now. Will do that presently.

Also, Seattle did too make semis!

what does "storm poet" for team mean in the individuals? are those the people who aren't on a team but just competing indie or something?

[info]mstegosaurus

August 13 2005, 04:30:32 UTC 6 years ago

Exactly; named after Pat Storm, who was a member of several teams over the years and died a few years back.

I just noticed for those of us not in ABQ this year, that KUNM will be broadcasting the Indie finals via quicktime and real audio. Check www.nps2005.org for details.

That's actually indie-semis, I'm pretty sure-- they brought 'em back this year. But thinks for the tip, I hadn't seen that!
